What type of clientele do your collections cater
to, what stores carry your line, and at what price points?
Our Weekendz Off Men's and Pulp Women's collection caters
to the recreational activities of the modern day individual
and we aim to capture their spirit through our line of comfortable
and fashion forward apparel. Some of the stores that carry
our line are REI, Sport Chalet, Cabela's, Gander Mountain,
and many fine specialty boutiques nationwide. Our wholesale
price points range from $7.50 basic tees to $20's and low
$30's for novelty tops, bottoms and jackets.
Describe any pivotal moments throughout your brand's
history from its inception to the present. How has your
brand evolved?
When we started 14 years ago we began as a Men's garment
dye knit company. We added Women's to the mix about 6 years
ago. When the Men's casual business got a little cleaner
in the late 90's, we followed suit and our business suffered
in the process. Our line was more yarn dyed and piece dyed
and we were into more luxury fibers. In 2002 we decided
to go back to our roots in specializing in Pigment Garment
Dyed novelty knits. We added wovens to the mix and targeted
the Outdoor Market with the goal- to capitalize on the "Weekendz
Off" name. At that point, our business took a dramatic turn
to where it is today.
How does your brand adjust to the constant redefinition
of price and quality demands of today's modern man?
When the company began, we produced all of our product primarily in Los Angeles.
Over the years we have developed an extensive Global Sourcing
Network that allows us to offer more detail that the consumer
wants at a much more advantageous price.
Describe the range of products/accessories that
your brand offers.
In both Men's and Women's we offer everything from basic garment dyed tees
to novelty textured woven unconstructed blazers and Washable
Suede jackets. Our product line encompasses tops, bottoms,
jackets etc. in both novelty knit and woven fabrications.
The fabrications that make up our day in and day out business
are Tencel, Linen, Cotton Knits and Woven's, Washable Suede
and Slub Jersey-just to name a few.
What new collections will be unfolding for the
Fall/Winter 07/08 season and what is the inspiration behind
them?
The inspiration for our line always comes from how people like to spend their
weekend off. We know our customers have an active lifestyle
and they want to be comfortable and wear fashionable, high
quality clothing so our focus is always on soft and cozy.
When someone buys one of our garments it automatically becomes
like an old favorite. Our key categories for Fall continue
to be our Vintage Wash Sweaters and Pigment Garment Dyed
Knits. They are the common thread that makes our line a
cohesive collection.
What trends do you believe are driving today's
men's market and how does your brand serve those needs?
One trend that I call "Authentic Outdoorsman" mirrors
our brand. It's all about rugged outdoor life, the well-worn
look and no nonsense fashion. Our brand epitomizes this
philosophy. All of our product speaks to this lifestyle
by using natural fibers, novelty wash processes and relaxed
styling details.
What is your brand's philosophy behind the crafting
of your products, and what distinguishes you from other
brands carrying similar items?
The one philosophy we have as a company is to stay focused
on who we are. Everything we do is Pigment Garment Dyed
which enhances the product in many ways. It gives the product
it's worn look, soft hand, and it is all pre-shrunk. Many
of my competitors in this market do similar looks but very
few work in garment dye. We also devote much of our time
developing novelty textured fabrics that are not readily
found in the marketplace. Where most companies use cotton
twill as a base cloth we would use twill weave that is made
with a slub yarn. By doing so, you give the customer a reason
to buy both.
Why should buyers be sure to stop by your booth
at MAGIC this February?
Our pigment garment dyed sportswear collection is very unique in terms of
luxurious fabric texture, rich colors and superior hand
feel. It is a must-see in the upcoming February MAGIC show.
Our booth has always been very busy from Day 1 so we advise
people call for appointments as early as possible. See you
there!
